Top Five Mistakes Operators Make:
1. Fail to change or use fresh printhead-cleaning kits. Do not reuse printhead-cleaning kits. Do not use expired or dried-out printhead-cleaning kits. Humectants on the printhead-cleaning kit can dry-out. CH621A HP 789 DesignJet Printhead Cleaning Kit. CR278A HP 792 DesignJet Printhead Cleaning Kit. USD109.99
2. Fail to keep the printer powered-on at-all-times during power-trips, power-outages, power-failures, over the weekends and over the holidays. Like the HP DesignJet 9000s, 10000s, Roland, Mimaki, Mutoh, Eco-Solvent printers, the L25500, L26500, L28500, and LX printers will conduct unattended automatic printhead-cleaning cycles. Do not disable automatic printhead-cleaning cycles.
3. Fail to keep more than 25% amount of ink in the ink-cartridges and recession-proof-cartridges whenever the printer is in sleep-mode, idle and not in-use. Multiple automatic printhead-cleaning cycles will deplete the inks in the ink-cartridges.
4. Fail to turn 'ON' extra printhead cleaning. Especially in cold and dry climates and confirmed during the winter of 2012, we discovered that 110 degrees Celsius of hot and dry air will dry up the printhead nozzles much faster. Dried printhead nozzles will lead to banding and shorter printhead life. Choose extra printhead cleaning to keep the nozzles moist with humectants.

SAM*INK® Z6100, L25500, L26500, L28500 Ink-Cartridge Chip-Corrector - How it got started?
A hp latex dealer approached me and he said that he has twenty-three (23) hp OEM latex ink-cartridges (cartridges) that the printer cannot read.
He said that hp had refused to replace them as they were coming close to expiry and that he was going to lose $2,300.
He asked if we can some how fix this headache.
This was how and why we started to Research and Develop the cartridge chip-corrector (corrector).
To our surprise, the corrector could also correct hp's faulty Z6100, L25500, L26500, L28500 ink-cartridges.
This is where the corrector becomes invaluable.
It is an insurance device.
When no errors occurs, some will think it is useless.
When an error occurs, it becomes invaluable.
It does not reset, but it corrects a corrupted chip.
Reset means that the ink-level indicator goes back to 100%.
Correct means that you would be able to continue using the cartridge; the cartridge is saved.
hp does not make this device, so when you have a faulty cartridge, you will have to take it to a hp service center.
When you have this device in-house, you will be able to correct the cartridge on the spot!
This corrector list at USD99.99 and our franchisees should stock them.

SAM*INK®. The World's First Recession-Proof-Cartridge.
SAM*INK® Latex Inks are ideal for wide and super-wide inkjet print applications including event banners, transit signage, and other outdoor applications as well as for high-quality indoor signage. SAM*INK® Latex Inks are pigmented, water-based inks using SAM*INK®'s proprietary aqueous-dispersed emulsion-polymerization polymers ("Latex") technology. The water-based formulations of SAM*INK® Latex Inks reduce the impact of printing on the environment.
SAM*INK® Latex Inks delivers overall durability that performs equivalent to SAM*INK® Eco-Solvent Inks, SAM*INK® Low-Solvent, and SAM*INK® Mild-Solvent Inks. SAM*INK® Latex Ink prints offers display permanence up to 3-years* unlaminated outdoors; for indoor, interior in-window displays, up to 5-years* unlaminated, and up to 10-years* laminated on a range of media. *The fact that each country's and each city's climate, pollution, humidity, UV-hazard, source of inkjet-media materials, source of laminate materials, source of machinery, and localized application methods varies, the user is advised to conduct his or her own tests before use.
SAM*INK® Latex Inks are used on HP DesignJet L25500, L26500, and L28500 printers, HP Scitex LX600 printers, and HP Scitex LX820 and LX850 industrial printers employing thermal printhead technology. SAM*INK® Eco-Solvent, Low-Solvent, and Mild-Solvent inks are used on Roland SolJets VersaArt, Mimaki JV3 JV33, Mutoh ValueJets, Seiko 64s 100s, HP DesignJet 9000s 10000s, and Epson DX4 DX5 printers employing piezo printhead technology. They all produce vivid, durable prints on a wide variety of coated and uncoated materials including most low-cost, eco-solvent / low-solvent compatible medias.
From durable outdoor signage to odorless indoor display, SAM*INK® Latex Inks offer the versatility to print on both coated and uncoated media while enabling high-speed and high-productivity printing that reduces labor costs. Many large-format recyclable substrate printing materials tested with SAM*INK® Latex Inks are covered by the media manufacturers' take-back program.
SAM*INK® Latex Inks produce dry and ready-to-use prints. Job production is streamlined and overall productivity is improved because prints are already dry coming out of the printer and ready to display, finish (e.g. trim, weld, or laminate), or prepare for shipment. Prints can be laminated immediately using cold, hot, or liquid processes. With no waiting time for prints to dry, there is no interruption in workflow. SAM*INK® Latex Inks eliminates external printer dryers and floor space for air-drying, save production steps, and reduce both labor cost and rental cost.
SAM*INK® Latex Inks are available as SAM*INK® Latex L25500 789 and SAM*INK® Latex L26500 792 ink bottles which are filled into SAM*INK® Recession-Proof-Cartridges.
SAM*INK® Thermal Latex Inks were developed for Thermal Inkjet printheads in six-color writing systems that provide high quality prints at high productivity without requiring daily manual cleaning of printheads or service calls for printhead replacement. Some printers using SAM*INK® Latex Inks employ fully automatic printhead testing and maintenance systems with no manual labor intervention.
Printers using SAM*INK® Latex Inks can feature printhead testing and servicing systems to reduce manual maintenance and enable reliable unattended printing. No daily, time-consuming manual cleaning of printheads and printhead caps and wipers means less maintenance and more printer up-time. Automated servicing replaces daily manual cleaning with swabs and organic fluids to reduce the environmental impact of printing and save labor time spent in printer maintenance.
SAM*INK® Latex Inks are water-based and offer important advantages over eco-solvent / low-solvent inks used in large format and industrial inkjet printing. No special workplace ventilation is required.
SAM*INK® Latex Inks provide an improved printing environment because they do not require special handling, contain no materials requiring hazard warning labels, and are non-flammable and non-combustible. In the European Union (EU) -- widely recognized as having the most comprehensive set of labeling guidelines in the world -- SAM*INK® Latex Inks do not require hazard warning labels in accordance with EU Directive 1999/45/EC. SAM*INK® Latex Inks contain no HAPs (hazardous air pollutants) or sensitizers. SAM*INK® Latex Inks produce odorless indoor wall decorations that can be GREENGUARD Children & Schools Certified, can keep building owners obtain LEED credits, and meet AgBB criteria.
SAM*INK® Latex Inks can also meet the chemical requirements of the Nordic Ecolabel (Nordic Swan) for printing companies.
High water content, up to 65% by weight, in SAM*INK® Latex Inks offers important benefits to large format and industrial production environments: water produces no VOCs, requires no special handling, and is non-toxic, non-flammable, and non combustible.
Dry, ready-to-user prints made on vinyl using SAM*INK® Latex Inks can be laminated immediately using cold, hot, and liquid lamination methods. Prints made with SAM*INK® Latex Inks may be welded together to make panels using methods appropriate to the particular substrate (e.g. vinyl).
Prints made with SAM*INK® Latex Inks used for vehicle wraps and other conformal applications are equally-stretchable across both printed and unprinted areas. Unlike solvent inks, SAM*INK® Latex Inks do not penetrate or dissolve the bulk substrate material to affect the print's mechanical properties and peel strength in self-adhesive vinyls.
Many third-party media and textile companies are working with SAM*INK® to validate their range of products with SAM*INK® Latex Inks. Full details of media types tested and their suppliers can be found This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

SAM*INK ICC Color Profiles for any Media.
Questions & Answers:
Q: How do I start?
A: Many excited customers can't wait to perform the install.
The user can choose to perform his or her own SAM*INK® install on the terms and condition that he or she indemnifies SAM*INK®.
We recommend that you contact our authorized franchisees to schedule a no-obligation, no-cost, on-site confidential visit to check the condition of the printer.
An in-factory L25500 and L26500 ink, print-head, printer, and RIP training is mandatory in-order to resell latex inks.
To be fair, the franchisee will need to ascertain that the printer is maintained in proper working condition before a SAM*INK® install.
He will use the 'engineer report' to check print-head life in milliliters, print-head weight, print-head nozzles health, image-quality print, existing error-messages, medias, and RIP condition.
If the printer is NOT maintained in proper working condition, the franchisee will suggest a no-obligation option to repair the printer.
If the printer owner chooses NOT to repair the printer, the franchisee is not obligated to perform the install.
The user can still choose to perform his or her own SAM*INK® install on the terms and condition that he or she indemnifies SAM*INK®.
Q: Light-fastness?
A: *The fact that each country's and each city's climate, pollution, humidity, UV-hazard, source of inkjet-media materials, source of laminate materials, source of machinery, and localized application methods varies, the user is advised to conduct his or her own tests before use. The evaluation references ASTM D3424-01 Test method 03. For this evaluation, samples were exposed in a Q-Panel Xenon-arc chamber for 40 hours at 63°C with the light intensity level at 1.1 watts per square meter. An X-Rite spectrodensitometer is used to measure L*, a*, b* units for Dmax (100% area coverage color patches) of the primary colors: red, green, blue, cyan, magenta, yellow and black. ASTM D2244 is used to calculate the CIELAB color difference, ΔE00 at 20 and 40 hours of UV exposure.

A: Glossy, semi-glossy, satin, & semi-matte laminating films.
Q: Does SAM*INK® has the same L25500 color gamut? Do we need new profiles?
A: We have designed the color index, strength, & gamut to match the OEMs and we have successfully matched them on multiple medias made available to us. If for some reason like temperature, a new media exhibits a new color gamut, we have the resources, the manpower, and the correct business conduct to quickly make adjustments for the customer at no extra cost. This is the special effort we can offer clients above and beyond the OEMs.
Q: Is the recession-proof-cartridge designed for removal and re-insertion?
A: You do not need to remove the cartridge to refill. We designed the cartridge to stay inserted in the printer for good.
Q: What are the recommended print modes?
A: Please see below chart.

Q: What is Onyx's color calibration N-Factor?
A: The default N-Factor is set at 2.0 for all channels. During Calibration/Linearization you can alter the curve with N-Factor.
To increase mid-tone values:
-Increase N-Factor to value greater than 2.0, for example= 5.0
-Select for specific channels where higher mid-tone densities are desired.
-This result gives you a more linear density curve because it helps increase the mid-tone values giving you more saturation.
-For example, this technique can be used if you are profiling for clear or opaque backlit film.
-Making these changes give the output better overall coverage and maximum saturation.
SAM*INK® Latex Ink -- What it is and what it is not
Explore the myths and mysteries of latex inks
SAM*INK® latex ink formula is researched & developed in-house with over 13-years of thermal printhead technology experience and is, quite honestly, proprietary.
SAM*INK® latex polymers exist as spherical particles and are dispersed in water.
SAM*INK® latex polymer is a synthetic (manufactured) material. The polymer is not natural rubber from the latex producing rubber trees.
SAM*INK® latex polymer resin cures and/or coalesce into a film under heat.
SAM*INK® latex polymers are molecular compounds, either natural or synthetically manufactured, that are made up of many repeating units of monomers. The development of polymer chemistry began in the 1920s with the investigation of the puzzling behavior of some materials including wood, gelatin, cotton, and rubber. For example, when rubber, with the known empirical formula of C5H8, was dissolved in an organic solvent, the solution displayed several new properties, including a higher than expected viscosity, which suggested that the dissolved compound had a very high molar mass. There were many misconceptions for a number of years, until Hermann Staudinger clearly showed that there were, in fact, enormously large giant molecules, each of which contained many thousands of atoms held together by covalent bonds. Hermann Staudinger (1881-1963) was a German chemist. He is one of the pioneers in polymer chemistry. Staudinger was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1953.
Once the structures of these macromolecules were understood, the way was open for the synthesis manufacturing of polymers, which now pervade almost every aspect of our daily lives. About 90 percent of today's chemists, including biochemists, work with polymers.
Latexs or polymers in water dispersions serve as coatings, adhesives, and the basis for plastics and elastomers. Latex derives it name from or latices. Latex particles are normally small enough to be kept in dispersion by Brownian motion.
Basically SAM*INK® latex is synthesized by mixing monomers, surface active agents (surfactant), and an initiator (free radical source) into water. The initiator is usually activated by heat. A widely used initiator is potassium persulfate. Surfactants are molecules that have a hydrophilic end and a hydrophobic end. These form miscelles in the water, with the hydroplilic end facing outward, shielding the hydrophobic portion. The surfactant can be a soap or detergent, sodium lauryl sulfate being a typical example. The turbid or hazy appearance of soap in water is due to the presence of micelles. The surfactant dissolves the oil-soluble monomer in much the same way as the soap miscelles dissolves your skin's oil in ordinary toiletry. Some of the surfactant remains water soluble, as does some of the monomers. Monomer diffuses from the large droplets into the water and to the miscelles. Some of it begins to polymerize on contact with the initiator (free radicals). After adding a few mers, the much less water soluble free radical diffuses randomly into a miscelle, where it begins to polymerize the monomer present there. It is terminated when a second free radical enters the miscelle. The fully polymerized latex then is a submicroscopic sphere if polymer emulsified by a layer of surfactant. The kinetics of emulsion polymerization can be explained more upon request.
The reason why emulsion polymerization is chosen here because (a) heat removal through the aqueous phase during the polymerization is very efficient; (b) the final latex has a very low viscosity, approaching that of water; and (c) the polymer is easily recovered via coagulation and/or film formation.
SAM*INK® latexes constitutes a subgroup of colloid system known as lyophobic sol. They can also be called polymer colloids. The stability of these colloids is determined by the balance between attractive and repulsive forces affecting two particles as they approach one another. Stability is conferred on these latex by electrostatic forces, which arises because of the couterion clouds surrounding the particles. Other forces of an enthalpic or entropic nature arise when the lyophobic molecules on the surfaces of the latex interact on close approach. These can be overcome by the evaporation of the water!
If the polymer in the SAM*INK® latex is above its glass transition temperature, it will form a film on evaporation of the water. A simple example is the drying of a latex paint on a wall! As the water evaporates, coalescence surface tension forces proceed from the presence of water menisci of very small radii of curvature. These menisci develop between the particles as the last traces of water are removed. The forces that these menisci generate drive the particles together. Inter-diffusion of the polymer chains takes place, forming coherent films.
Latex inkjet inks contains color pigments about 200 nanometers in diameter.
Latex inkjet inks does not contain volatile organic compounds like cyclo-hexanone.
