We Live in a Beautiful World

In 1995, we caught ourselves making a huge mistake.  I was a hp engineer and I was designing too much plastics and electronics into my cartridges.  Cartridges were starting to weigh heavier than the inks inside them and whats worse, they were starting to cost more than the inks inside them!  The cartridges just carried ink into the printer and then they were designed to be disposed of -- not recycled.  What a waste of resources!  What kind of engineer would design stuff like these?  I was not proud of it.

I decided to brainstorm ideas for implementation by Reducing, Reusing, and Recycling used ink cartridges.  I also brainstormed inking the printer without cartridges and I shared them with my hp manager.  But to my surprise, he did not care.  He sneered, "We don't make inks; so this is how we make those dummies pay for it.  If you want to keep your job son, you'd better shelve these nonsense", and he walked away with a swagger.  Boy, those words were enough to put a young man's ideas to rest.  Goodness forbid if you bring a new idea or tell some pompous exec his baby is ugly -- you'll be next on his WFR list.  I left hp in 1999 for a director's job at Sihl GmbH.

September 11, 2001.  9/11 caught business owners totally unprepared.  Worldwide stock markets crashed into recession.  While there were many third-party after-market inkjet medias for large-format print-service-providers to cut cost, there were no reliable alternative, after-market, third-party inks any where in the world to fall back onto.  I was 35 years old then and I thought to myself, "Revive my dusty recycling idea? Is God knocking on the door?"  I prostrated myself before Him and prayed for divine guidance.  In the still of a silent night, I suddenly heard His whisper "Sam, Do Not Fear, Go Forth".  I don't think it was exactly an encounter but tears of relief and thankfulness rolled down my eyes that entire night until sunrise.  I tendered my resignation and started SAM*INK® accidentally.  Yes, accidentally because I did not plan for it.  I've never looked back.

Focused on Minimizing Climate Change & Environmental Impacts.

Greetings and a warm welcome! Thank you for your interest in this website and the work that I do in SAM*INK®.  Toxic chemicals in our environment threaten our rivers and lakes, our air, land, and oceans, and ultimately ourselves and our future.  We believe that manufacturers of electronic goods, who have benefited from sales of their products, should take responsibility for them from production through to the end of their lives. To prevent an e-waste crisis, manufacturers must design clean electronics with longer lifespan, that are safe and easy to recycle and will not expose workers and the environment to hazardous chemicals.  In this respect, we help the environment and help customers save money with recycled and refillable ink cartridges.

You know, 500 million non biodegradable plastic cartridges get buried into landfills every year. 500 cartridges are thrown away every second!  We can never stop them from entering the landfills but we can Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.  Yes, we really can. I humbly offer refillable ECO-cartridges and continuous bulk ink systems.  Yes, I do agree that they do not have ink-level sensing yet, but you only need to refill once a day, and remembering to refill is like brushing your teeth every morning...like making your first cup of coffee in the office.  They have stopped many cartridges from going into landfills since 2001.  You will still get consistent and colorful photo quality prints up to 1440 dpi.

Recycled ink cartridges are a great way to do your part for the environment and save money on the purchase.  So much energy and resource materials are used in making technological products.  And just think about how often you've seen office staff throwing away empty ink cartridges into rubbish bins waiting to be picked up?  All of those e-waste will eventually go into our landfills, which by the way, are already too full.

Recycled printer cartridges, then, can be a really practical and inexpensive way to reduce waste and increase efficiency.  Most efforts to stop pollution and limit e-waste start at the individual level, which means you could make a real impact on the world by following a few simple steps.

Let's say your current ink cartridges run out of ink.  Normally, you just throw them into the trash and go out and purchase a new one, right?  This is where you can make the first change.  The first way you can help the environment is to recycle your printer cartridges.  Nowadays, most cartridges come with a postage-paid envelope in which you can mail the empty cartridges back to the manufacturer.  In this respect, we go further, we pick them up!  This helps reduce resource consumption and it saves you money.  How, you ask?

3.promotion logo e-wate solution yellow box black text tilted.jpg - 14.40 KbBuy Recycled

The next time you find yourself running out of ink, don't just pick up any new cartridge to replace the old one.  Instead, buy recycled ink cartridges.  They are most often cheaper than the new cartridges and you are helping preserve valuable resources and energy by doing so.  Plus, you won't even notice a difference in print quality as these cartridges are brand new - they are just made from recycled empty ink cartridges.  Even so, there is still one other way you can be good to the environment and your bank account in regards to printer cartridge purchases.

3.promotion logo e-wate solution yellow box black text tilted.jpg - 14.40 KbECO-Cartridge-Free System Reduces Your Carbon Footprint!

Inkjet cartridges dumped in land fill sites release harmful toxins and chemicals into the earth whilst also taking 1000’s of year to degrade.  The alternative is incineration - which pollutes the environment by releasing the toxins directly into the air as well as increasing carbon emissions, as the cartridges are burnt.  New study proves it: Carbon footprint of recycled, remanufactured, or refilled cartridge is 45-60% lower than new cartridge !

Refilling kits or refillable ink cartridges are a type of recycling in a sense.  You are not purchasing a new cartridge, rather, just  the ink that goes inside of it.  When you run out of ink, you can order a refill kit, which contains instructions and the ink itself.  You'll simply refill the empty cartridge in your own home or office.  You save money and again, conserve the environment.  You are helping to reduce your carbon foot print.  Every cartridge refilled is one fewer going to a landfill site; it is also one less cartridge that needs to be produced, saving our planet's precious natural resources.

Recycled ink cartridges are the way of the immediate future.  All you need is the will power to try something different and you'll be saving money and going green all at the same time!  That's a hard combination to beat, don't you think?

See how easy it is?  With a bit of change, you can make a big difference by using recycled printer cartridges, refill kits and recycling your own cartridges.  You can even stop by most of our Service Centers these days and drop off your empty cartridges to be recycled in a special bin.  Everybody's on the recycling bandwagon, so why aren't you?

It is my honor and privilege to serve you.  I look forward to help you in any way that I can.  I hope that you will take full advantage of this website and provide me with your feedback at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
